SPECA held a meeting with PetChem on February 4, 2020, and delivered EOI that they wish to participate in the Bintulu Methanol Plant Project.

At PetChem, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr.) Jahi Abdul Aziz Bin Dato Haji Husain (Chairman), Mahammad Bin Haji Ibrahim (Project Director), Ir. Lucas Bin Takip (Operation Readness Manager) participated. At SPECA, Datuk Rahman Lariwoo (Chairman), Ahmad Sazali Bin Annuar (COO) and other board members attended the meeting.

In particular, SPECA's Korean partner, POMI's Meckey Yang, and Mr. SY Choi and others participated, and expressed their determination to do their best for Sarawakain's more role in the Bintulu Methanol Plant Project.

At the meeting, SPECA Chaiman Datuk Rahman Lariwoo said: “Since there have been many large projects in Sarawak, the Sarawakian Contractors have not had the opportunity to participate in the large size project, and for this reason, the economic development of the Sarawak region has to be delayed a lot. In addition, SPECA established SPECA Consortium Sdn Bhd, a special-purpose corporation with a common goal, to respond to large projects by combining capabilities with excellent EPC companies in Korea. I decided to go out and asked for PetChem's active cooperation."
